I guess the secret is out... I'm a book nerd.
I love me a good book especially if it teaches me something. Fiction books are cool but I'm more into non-fiction.
I have so many recs but for today I'll share 8 of them with you. Keep an eye out for future posts as I am currently reading to books that I already love all about hormone health.
Each of these 8 books have inspired me in their own unique ways. My favorite thing about non-fiction (as a writer and as a reader) is that thousands of people can say the same thing in all different ways and each way hits different.
Book #1: You can heal your life, Louise Hay
I am gifting this book to everyone I love for Christmas this year, so if I love you and you are reading this, sorry to ruin the surprise. I will have my future children reading this as soon as they can read. I will forever reread this book at least once a year, I actually have to buy a new one because mine is literally falling apart. I will keep copies in my studio to give to podcast guests.
Louise Hay is an exceptional teacher. This book gives you a simple solution to your every problem, literally. Although the solution is so simple, us humans complicate it. This book is currently $8 on amazon, go buy it now. Before reading it, set the intention to have a completely open mind and be ready to put her practices into action. Prepare to read one chapter a week and give yourself that week to try out each practice she gives you.
Book #2: Super attractor, Gabby Bernstein
I am currently rereading this. I love Gabby Bernstein's work but not in a "I'm a fan" kind of way. It feels like she's my mentor in my spiritual journey, and she doesn't even know it! I read this book when I lost my job a few years ago unexpectedly which has never happened to me before (with the exception of when covid shut the world down).
Gabby teaches you how to truly step into feeling good, to accept that you are meant to feel good. She coaches you through methods to start attracting your wildest dreams. This is truly a powerful book but you must be open to spirituality to read.
Book #3: The war of art, Steven Presfield
A short, sweet, and to the point kind of book. This one is for my entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, small business owners. It's for the achievers who are also procrastinators.
He talks about your resistance the entire book and how it blocks you from achieving success. This one is also like $9 on amazon. If you're a creative of some sort, go buy this book.
Book #4: No bad parts, Richard Schwartz
It's not a book you just read through on your break at work or by the beach. This is a book that you immerse yourself in bit by bit. You can't take it all in at once otherwise it will be too much.
Much like Louise Hay's book, I recommend one chapter at a time. You can do one chapter a day or one chapter every few days, whichever your prefer. Internal family systems is a breakthrough type of therapy that most therapists aren't trained in and might not even know about yet. But this work, is some of the most impacts work you can do for yourself.
Book #5: You are a badass at making money AND you are a badass, Jen Sincero
I grew up in a scarcity mindset. Believing money is the root of all evil, being told there's never enough of it ,etc. Basically, I had a fucked up relationship with money for the longest time that I am still working to heal. Jen sincero is real as fuck and the practices she walks you through can truly be a catalyst in you changing your relationship with money.
If you're struggling to achieve financial abundance or you have dream to have financial freedom, read this book.
I read "you are a badass" when I was 21, it was one of the first self help books I read. If you're new to this genre or been here a while, go get BOTH books.
Book #6: High five habit, Mel Robbins
Mel Robbins is just my favorite. She's so unapologetically herself in all of the work that she does and I love that. She is not afraid to be vulnerable and share her literally everything with the world. She is a bad ass. She also came up with two practices that are both backed by science and proven to work, the 5 second rule & the high 5 habit.
I love the high 5 habit as it's centered around ditching your negative self talk and learning to love yourself exactly as you are.
Book #7: Girl stop apologizing, Rachel Hollis
This and her book girl, wash your face are two classics in the non-fiction/self help book world. I'm sure you have heard of both but just in case you haven't I wanted to include at least one of them in this blog.
I've followed Rachels work for years, she inspired me to allow my own writing skills to shine. Go check out her books.
Book #8: Green Lights, Matthew McConaughey
I love him as an actor and as a human. This book is different than anything you have ever read I can promise you that. Although it's not necessarily a self-help book, I found a lot of insight and inspiration through Matts work.
